Sánchez started playing for Rosario Central, before moving to Feyenoord Rotterdam in 1996. In arguably the best season of his career, he netted 16 league goals in his first year, good enough for a final runner-up place. Later he represented, briefly, Deportivo Alavés in Spain, and Belgium's RC Harelbeke.
In 1999, Sánchez returned home, first with Club de Gimnasia y Esgrima La Plata, then with his favorite club, Rosario. After eventually being told by veteran coach Ángel Zof he was not needed, he signed with Quilmes Atlético Club, but he suffered a serious shoulder injury shortly after, having to retire from the sport at 32.
Sánchez began his managerial career at Club Atlético Banfield, helping the team avoid relegation. He also managed Rosario Central for nine games, until he was fired on October 6, 2008.[1]
In February 2009, Vitamina agreed to take charge of Bolivian first division club Oriente Petrolero,[2] but resigned from his duties in early October of that year.[3]
